Our standpoint

Why IntuneBrew is free

IntuneBrew is free and open source - and it is going to stay that way. No paid tiers, no seat licenses, no “contact sales.” Here is why.

Why it exists

Getting macOS apps into Microsoft Intune used to mean downloading installers by hand, wrapping them, writing detection rules, and repeating the whole dance for every update. IntuneBrew started as a way to make that pain disappear - a maintained catalog and an automated pipeline that takes an app from download to deployment for you.

Why it is free

The tools that make day-to-day Intune administration less painful should be available to everyone, not just the teams with budget for another platform. IntuneBrew is part of a family of free, open tools for Intune admins, built in the open and maintained by its author and community contributors. Keeping it free is a deliberate choice, not a trial that expires.

What is the catch?

There is not one. Because IntuneBrew is open source, you never have to take that on faith - you can read exactly what it does, run it entirely inside your own tenant, and walk away whenever you want. There is no contract and nothing to cancel.

What you can count on

Open source and auditable

Every line is on GitHub. Read it, fork it, or contribute.

Self-hostable

Run it entirely in your own tenant with PowerShell or an Azure Runbook.

No lock-in

Open scripts and an open catalog. Leave any time, nothing breaks.

Least-privilege access

Standard Microsoft Entra ID sign-in and a single Graph permission.

When a paid tool makes sense

We would rather be honest than oversell. If your organization needs contractual SLAs, 24/7 dedicated support, or broad cross-platform automation beyond macOS and Intune, a commercial platform may be the right call - and that is a perfectly good reason to buy one. IntuneBrew is built for teams who want a free, open, and self-hostable way to handle macOS apps in Intune, with the source right there to inspect.

Common questions

Is IntuneBrew really free?
Yes. IntuneBrew is completely free and open source, with no paid tiers, seat licenses, or feature paywalls. The PowerShell module, the Azure Runbook, and the web portal are all free to use.
Will IntuneBrew stay free?
Yes. IntuneBrew is a community project and is committed to staying free and open source. It will not be monetized.
What is the catch?
There is no catch. IntuneBrew is open source, so you can verify exactly what it does. If you ever need contractual SLAs or dedicated support, a commercial platform may be a better fit, but IntuneBrew itself will remain free.
